Treetop Walkway
An 18-metre-high steel walkway winds through mature woodland canopy, offering bird's-eye views of Kew Gardens and intimate glimpses of the forest ecosystem. The adjacent Rhizotron takes visitors underground to explore tree root systems, bookending a complete tree-focused experience. Designed by the architects behind the London Eye and opening in 2008, the structure gently flexes in the wind—thrilling without being frightening.
Open daily 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Buggies must be left at ground level and cannot be taken onto the walkway; a lift serves wheelchair users and those unable to climb 118 steps. Visit on weekdays or early morning to avoid crowds; spring and autumn offer the best seasonal foliage and wildlife views. The walkway may close in high winds, so check kew.org before visiting.
