Museum Stoomtram Hoorn-Medemblik
An authentic vintage steam tram journey through West Friesland countryside aboard lovingly restored locomotives and carriages, pulled by the famous Bello engine. The 20-km route between Hoorn and Medemblik (with stops at heritage stations like Wognum, Twisk and Opperdoes) includes a small museum and workshops where volunteers demonstrate historic rail operations. Combine train ride with optional boat connection and stop by Zuiderzeemuseum (Open Air Museum) for a full-day adventure.
Trams run late March through early November; book online in advance as it's very popular. Compact prams/buggies are best as large ones must fold. Bicycles can be transported for €4.50 to enable a cycling return.
