Toy Museum Deventer
The Netherlands' largest toy collection housed in two 500-year-old Hanseatic merchant houses with cozy separate rooms rather than grand halls. Interactive spaces include an objects theatre where children create stories with found items, a dramatic marble-run loft with hand-cranked lifts, and a vintage train room with motorized Märklin sets weaving through miniature landscapes. Visitors can play board games, video games, and recreate displays from different eras while learning how toys reflect cultural history and social change.
Bring a baby carrier if visiting with infants, as upper floors are only accessible by stairs. Ground floor has baby changing and bottle warmer. Allow 90 minutes minimum; families often stay 2-3 hours.
