NEMO Science Museum
The Netherlands' largest science museum with five floors of hands-on interactive exhibits where children conduct chemistry experiments, build bridges, blow giant bubbles, and explore how everyday science works. The ship-shaped copper-green building designed by Renzo Piano sits above the IJ tunnel with a free-access rooftop terrace offering panoramic Amsterdam views. Daily demonstrations include a spectacular chain reaction Rube Goldberg machine on the second floor, plus workshops on light, sound, electricity, water, and the human mind.
Book tickets online in advance as the museum is highly popular and sells out, especially weekends. Visit on weekday mornings or after 14:00 to avoid crowds. The rooftop terrace is free to access even without museum entry and offers excellent city views with a café.
