Museum Het Schip
Iconic expressionist housing block designed by architect Michel de Klerk, showcasing the Amsterdam School movement. Visitors tour a fully restored 1920s workers' apartment with period furnishings, explore a reconstructed pre-housing law slum dwelling, and see a remarkable post office with hand-painted vaulted ceiling and lavender-blue color scheme. Includes exhibits on social housing history, decorative arts, and architectural craftsmanship, with a garden featuring Amsterdam School street furniture.
Located in residential Amsterdam West, away from the city centre; bus 22 or 48 from Central Station, or a 30-minute walk. Tours included with admission (45 minutes) and run hourly from 11 a.m. on weekdays Tuesday-Sunday. Note that while the museum is wheelchair accessible, the museum apartment itself is only partially accessible.
