Zomeravond: Eat More Trees
Every year, we lose 24 billion tons of fertile soil worldwide. That is thirty football fields per minute. If we continue farming as we do today, we are literally stripping the ground from beneath our food system. Eat More Trees, narrated by actress Hanna Verboom, shows how things can be done differently. We follow the Dutch Yanniek Schoonhoven, who, together with her husband, is transforming 1,100 hectares of degraded land in Murcia, southern Spain, into a thriving example of healthy agriculture. Together with expert Louis De Jaeger, we travel to the Amazon rainforest and European fields. We see how trees and perennial crops make agriculture more resilient to drought and heat. The film shows how trees restore the soil, strengthen ecosystems, and produce healthier and more nutritious food.
