Plum Weekend

On August 22 and 23, Muiderslot closes the summer with the free-to-admission Plum Weekend (castle visit with a valid admission ticket).

Did you know that the saying 'Until plum season' is inextricably linked to Muiderslot Castle? Poet and writer PC Hooft, who lived here in the 17th century, ended his letters this way to entice friends from Amsterdam to come to Muiden and share in the enjoyment of the plums from his orchard.

We continue that tradition with our Plum Weekend. In the plum orchard, you can taste the harvest yourself, and at the market, you can stroll past stalls in the atmosphere of a farmers' market, full of artisanal and regional products. Think of honey from the beekeeper, freshly baked bread, local delicacies, and honest products from the land.
